Performance

In 2012, after a semester long post-baccalaureate program at the University of Colorado at Boulder, I applied to five M.F.A. graduate programs.  In the next coming months, letter by letter came in and in the end, I had received 5 letters of rejection.  At that point in time, I felt ”all dressed up with no place to go”.  I decided to make work regarding this experience.  I dressed up as if I was ready to go somewhere important and place myself in awkward, hard places for a period of time.  This taught me that I needed to put every fiber of my being into my artwork.  I needed to do as much mental work as I was doing physical work, even if that meant putting myself on the line, doing performance art.  This is what came of it.
