The Syrian civil war started on March 15, 2011 and is ongoing today. Almost 6 million Syrians have had to flee their country and become refugees. They have started to write their cries for help on their tents. With this piece, I am asking, are we building bigger fences or are we actually helping? Contained inside the fence is an exact replica of the pup tent used by one of the refugees. Spray painted on it is the translated phrase, ‘Fear God in Us, Ye Nations’. I want the viewer to have a sense of urgency to either help or ignore these individuals and this situation.
